The Mason Child Development Center is open from 8 a.m. - 5:30 a.m.
To help ensure the safety of the children, staff and guests at the Child Development Center, the building is secured at all times and monitored by video cameras. Visitors can only gain access to the building by ringing the doorbell, located to the left of the second set of double doors. A Child Development Center staff person will greet all visitors and remain with them during their stay. Child Development Center staff and current families have key fobs (all Center families receive two fobs). The Center staff request that parents not allow anyone into the building using their key fob. Visitors (and family members who forget their fob) should ring the bell for assistance.
There are two playgrounds, each of which is fenced in and accessible only through the building. Teachers are trained in appropriate monitoring techniques and the ratio between staff and children will be optimal at all times.
Parents are recognized as the first and most important teachers of children. They are encouraged to become as involved in the Center's activities as their schedules permit, and to visit the center during the day, meet their child for lunch, and to participate in special events when possible. Parents, teachers, and staff are also encouraged to join the Center's Parent Advisory Group, which will meet monthly.
Biannual parent-teacher conferences, monthly newsletters, and informal conversations provide opportunities for parents and staff to work closely together.
Breakfast (7:30-8:30 a.m), lunch, and an afternoon snack are provided for the children, with food service provided by Mason Dining Services. All meals and snacks meet nutritional standards as required by the USDA Child Care Food Program.
Families should provide lunch, drinks, and snacks.
